Would you buy this microscope?
I cannot afford one right now, but I am a biology/pre-vet major that is looking to purchase my own microscope. I hope to have enough money saved by the end of the month.
I was looking on eBay and found this [seemingly generic branded] microscope. It has the usable features I’m looking for, the included USB cam would be a nice bonus, and the price is still within my range. The seller has good feedback/history as far as I can tell.
However, I’m still leery of dropping $350 on eBay on a generic brand on someone I don’t know.
Does anyone have more experience with scopes than I? Is this a solid buy?

I wouldn’t buy one at all. Really, your University/College will have scopes in any labs that require their use. And having your own won’t help much. In order to do anything with it, you’d need your own slides as well. So unless they’re going to loan you slides (not common anymore), you’d just have a nice conversation piece.
Save your money and buy some good study guides for the GRE. You’re going to need those to get into vet school worse than your own microscope.
